My Quran Journey has been named a finalist in the Best Free Digital Tool for Education category of the GESS Education Awards 2026. It is one of eight tools on the shortlist, and the winner will be announced at the awards gala in Dubai on 11 November, during GESS Dubai.
The GESS Awards are in their thirteenth year and cover the whole education sector — schools, suppliers, platforms and the people who run them. A free category is a particular kind of test. Nothing is being sold, so what is left to judge is whether the tool is good for the children using it.
My Quran Journey teaches children aged three to ten to read the Qur’an, one surah at a time. There are 114 levels, one for each surah. Tap any word and the app says it aloud and shows its translation; finish a level and a short quiz checks what stayed, with stars for getting there.
It runs on iOS and Android and in a web browser, and it keeps track of each child’s progress. Families choose the language and script the translation appears in. The app carries the approval of Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD).
Tap a word, hear it, see what it means. That is the whole interaction, and it is the one a three-year-old and a ten-year-old can both manage on their own.
Most of the Sidr platforms are licensed to schools. My Quran Journey is free, which means it reaches children a school licence never will: a child at home, at a weekend madrasah, or reading on a parent’s phone. For a first reader of the Qur’an, that is often where the reading actually happens.
The winners are announced at the GESS Awards Gala Dinner on Wednesday 11 November 2026 at the Conrad Dubai, during GESS Dubai at Dubai World Trade Centre (10–12 November). Our thanks to the judges, and congratulations to the other seven finalists.
