Our co-founder Dr Nousheen Zakaria opened BBW Jakarta 2026 at ICE BSD City alongside Big Bad Wolf founder Andrew Yap and Country Director Marthius Wandi Budianto. Our Little Ummah collection is this year’s special collaboration.
Big Bad Wolf Books has been bringing its giant book sales to Indonesian readers for ten years, and this week it opened the anniversary edition, BBW Jakarta 2026, at ICE BSD City in Tangerang. Sidr Productions was part of the opening ceremony: our co-founder Dr Nousheen Zakaria cut the ribbon with Andrew Yap, founder of Big Bad Wolf Books, and Marthius Wandi Budianto, Country Director of Big Bad Wolf Indonesia, together with the BBW Indonesia team and the sale’s partners.
It was an honour to be asked. Big Bad Wolf calls itself the world’s largest book sale, and its founders started it with a simple aim: to put books within reach of more people. That is close to our own reason for publishing, and being invited to open the tenth-anniversary sale in Indonesia says a great deal about how far our books have travelled in a short time.
The ceremony took place in front of the anniversary arch, Perayaan 10 Tahun (ten years of celebration), with the sale’s official partners, BCA and Lion Parcel, alongside. After the ribbon came the cake: an orange anniversary cake marked 1 Dekade, cut by the founders and guests to applause from the team and the first visitors.
This year’s special collaboration is with our Little Ummah collection: more than 120 of our English-language children’s storybooks, the name under which Big Bad Wolf is bringing Sidr Productions’ books to its readers. Mr Wandi explained the reason when the sale was announced: at Big Bad Wolf events across Indonesia, parents keep asking for English-language children’s books that teach Islamic values and good character, and there are very few to be found.
Dr Nousheen spoke at that announcement too, at the press conference on 7 October. She told detikPop that she began publishing when she had children of her own and went looking for a good curriculum for school, and found very few books that told stories of Islamic values in a way children understand. Our books teach children to know Allah in simple words, and cover shalawat, reciting the Qur’an, the pillars of Islam and of faith, and respect for parents. She talked about the collection at more length on Metro TV’s Selamat Pagi Indonesia.
Our thanks to Andrew Yap, Mr Wandi and the whole Big Bad Wolf Indonesia team for inviting us to share their celebration. If you are a bookseller or distributor who would like to stock our books, our trade portal is the quickest way to order.
